Who should take this course? This multi-modal online course is for shippers who prepare Air & Ocean dangerous goods shipments: air transit using the IATA regulations and ocean transit using the IMDG regulations. This includes any hazmat employee who needs to understand how to use the IATA & IMDG Regulations. (Shipping personnel who prepare and sign the shipping papers for transport, Personnel responsible for classifying hazardous product, and anyone else who meets the definition of a "hazmat employee" and who needs to understand how to read and interpret the IATA and IMDG Regulations.)
This course is for initial or recurrent students.

Current editions of the IATA DGR and IMDG Code are both required. Students must provide their own copies, as they are not included with the course. Regulations are available for purchase from our recommended suppliers .
- Exam
An exam concludes the course. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Course Duration
Time Required:
- Estimated completion time: 24-40 hours for initial training or for someone who has not regularly used the 49CFR, IATA and IMDG Dangerous Goods Regulations; 16 to 24 hours for those who regularly use the Regulations.
- You have 3 months from the date of payment to complete the course.
- A one-time extension may be purchased if additional time is needed.
Additional Required Training
Depending on your job functions, additional training may be required:
- Function Specific Training - Ultimately (in the United States) your employer has final responsibility for determining if a hazmat employee is properly trained for their particular job function. Since there is a potential for limitless types of job functions as determined by an individual employer, we as your training provider can only suggest what types of additional training might be required.
- If you ship Lithium Batteries, Radioactive Materials or Explosives additional training is recommended.
