Description
Who should take this course?
This Radioactive “upgrade” course is designed for forwarder and airline personnel who are currently IATA trained and who accept only excepted packages of radioactive materials from shippers. Acceptable for shippers who offer packages already correctly classified as Excepted Radioactive Material. This course covers marking/labeling, documentation and handling, but only presents an overview of the radioactive classification process. Current IATA certification is required to take this course.
Many airline operators and forwarders have a prohibition against radioactive materials acceptance however, they will make exceptions to that policy for shippers of “Excepted packages of radioactive materials” as outlined in IATA 10.5.8. If a shipper wishes to use this course, that would be acceptance if the package is already correctly classified as Excepted Radioactive Material.
Student must have current IATA certification for cargo acceptance. This certificate is function-specific training only. This course is only for airline and forwarder personnel.
