Michael has spent his 43 year career entirely in aviation. Initially, he worked for an operator flying worldwide in cargo and passenger operations.
He then spent the last 21 years with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as a Hazardous Materials Special Agent (HMASI) and a Principal Hazmat Inspector (PHI). His primary areas of expertise are in performing investigations and audits for shippers, ground handlers, freight forwarders, and operators. As a PHI he assisted air operators and shippers in developing dangerous goods programs acceptable to FAA, determined the effectiveness of training, initiated compliance and enforcement actions based on data derived from incident reports and data collected from inspections. He is fully fluent in 49CFR, ICAO and IATA and was an associate instructor at the FAA Academy in Oklahoma City. Throughout his career, he has been recognized for outstanding performance in mentorship and assisting industry partners in maintaining a compliant operational environment.
