IATA and IMDG Training for Freight Forwarders. This training focuses on Dangerous Goods Acceptance and Transport from a transportation intermediary standpoint and does not cover classification or inner packaging selection in detail nor does it cover Radioactive Materials or Bulk Packaging.
If a shipment is prepared according to the international regulations and meets a few additional requirements it may also move by highway or rail before or after air or ocean transport. The program covers the requirements unique to the US by reviewing the US Variations, placarding and segregation, and the US requirements for ocean transport. This meets the required function specific training requirements of the US DOT. If a forwarder is sending a package by highway transport only, they would also need 49CFR training.
This training is best suited for recurrent training for those with previous certification and experience with the IATA DGR and IMDG Code.
Estimated time to complete the IATA/IMDG Freight Forwarder course is 12 to 18 hours.
This course includes Security Awareness Training.
Materials Required: When beginning the course follow onscreen prompts to download and print the student workbook. IATA and IMDG Regulations recommended, but not required. If you need a current copy, we suggest purchasing one from our recommended suppliers.
Are any additional training courses required?
- If a forwarder is sending a package by highway only, they would also need training in 49 CFR.
- Function Specific Training - Ultimately (in the United States) your employer has final responsibility for determining if a hazmat employee is properly trained for their particular job function. Since there is a potential for limitless types of job functions as determined by an individual employer, we as your training provider can only suggest what types of additional training might be required.
