Certified Export Specialist (CES) Certification Program
Earn Education credits by taking DGI classes to earn your CES Certification from NCBFAA.
Program Description - The CES certification program is designed to help trade professionals involved in the export industry to become competent and knowledgeable in the current export regulations. You will find that participation in the CES program will provide you numerous venues for honing your professional skills while continuing to stay up with the rapidly changing marketplace within which OTI/Freight Forwarders function. The coursework that will be available is varied and wide ranging, encompassing all aspects of the trade.
*CES COURSE*
The CES Course is a completely self-paced online offering with a proctored final exam (also online). The student is required to provide their own proctor - usually someone from their company who is in a management position (but not their direct supervisor), or an HR representative. If you are self-employed, unemployed, or unable to provide one of the above, we will work with you to find a suitable proctor - perhaps a colleague in the industry or a friend that is a professor. We do not allow family members or significant others to act as proctors.

Eligibility: At least one year of experience in the U.S. export business.
Registration:
$650 for members and $1,250 for non-members.
Open, on-going enrollment. Students may apply at anytime during the year.
*GRANDFATHERING*
Grandfathering Eligibility: Apply for Grandfathering
- If you are currently a COF, you can automatically grandfather as a CES. If you pay $95.00 (or $80.00 if you are through a MOU) at this time the certification will run through the end of 2012. Requirements for points will begin in 2013 and you will need to pay a renewal fee at that time. or
- We have established a way for experienced export personnel to become a CES. In order to qualify:
- Do not submit payment until you have passed the NCBFAA review class and proctored knowledge exam. Passing grade is 75%.

- Must have 10 years minimum experience with an OTI (Freight Forwarder, NVOCC) or an exporter.
- Application form must contain company name, contact name and email/phone number for verification along with dates of employment.
- Must hold a management position within current company. Application must be accompanied by certification on company letterhead by an officer of the company verifying position/title of applicant.
