Who should take this course? The 3-Day Recurrent webinar is for individuals with current certification in 49CFR, IATA and IMDG. Topics covered include a review of those covered in the stand alone 2-Day initial classes for 49CFR, IATA & IMDG.
The course designed as a refresher for basic shippers, freight forwarders, third party logistics entities, carriers and freight brokers who prepare Ground, Air & Ocean dangerous goods shipments: for highway transit using the 49CFR regulations, air transit using the IATA regulations and ocean transit using the IMDG regulations. This includes any hazmat employee who needs to understand how to use the 49CFR, IATA & IMDG Regulations. (Shipping personnel who prepare and sign the shipping papers for transport, Personnel responsible for classifying hazardous product, and anyone else who meets the definition of a "hazmat employee" and who needs to understand how to read and interpret the 49CFR, IATA and IMDG Regulations.
If you do not prepare shipments or work with the 49CFR, IATA and IMDG on a regular basis you may want to consider the initial course, as this is a fast paced refresher course.
This course Fulfills US DOT and International Law Training Requirements.
49CFR Training for ground transporation, also known as DOT is required for shippers who prepare dangerous goods shipments for highway transit in the United States using the 49CFR regulations.
IATA Training for air transportation, also known as ICAO Training is required for any hazmat employee who needs to understand how to use the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR). This includes: Shipping personnel who prepare and sign the shipping papers for air transport, Personnel responsible for classifying hazardous product, and anyone else who meets the definition of a "hazmat employee" and who needs to understand how to read and interpret the IATA Air Regulations.
IMDG Training for ocean transport is required for any hazmat employee who needs to understand how to use the IMDG Code. This includes: Shipping personnel who prepare and sign the shipping papers for ocean transport, Personnel responsible for classifying hazardous product, Anyone else who meets the definition of a "hazmat employee" and who needs to understand how to read and interpret the IMDG Code.
Prerequisites: 49CFR & IMDG certification within the past 3 years, and IATA certification within the past 24 months

Required Materials
- Student Workbooks - Students download workbooks for each class to view and print prior to class. We suggest putting them in a three ring binder for ease of use. If you do not print the workbooks, you must be able to view the workbook at the same time as the webinar.
- Regulations - Current edition of the 49CFR, IATA DGR and IMDG are all required for this session. If you need current copies we suggest purchasing one from our recommended suppliers.
- Exam - An online exam concludes the course. Follow instructions in your confirmation email. Your instructor will provide additional details regarding the quiz.
- Recommended Supplies - Sticky notes, pens, a highlighter, and note paper.

- Complete your training from your desk or any convenient location with an internet connection.
- We recommend taking the webinar from a location where you will not be distracted by coworkers or daily work duties.
Course Duration
Time Required:
- This is a 3 day class.
- Public webinars are conducted from 11am – 7pm Eastern Standard Time each day (includes testing).
- Sign-in begins 15 minutes prior to class start time.
- There will be a lunch break for approximately 30 minutes.
- Class times are EST, please adjust according to your time zone.
Additional Required Training
Depending on your job functions, additional training may be required:
- Function Specific Training - Ultimately (in the United States) your employer has final responsibility for determining if a hazmat employee is properly trained for their particular job function. Since there is a potential for limitless types of job functions as determined by an individual employer, we as your training provider can only suggest what types of additional training might be required.
- Hazmat Security Awareness Training (SAT) - In the United States this additional training is required. DGI offers access to free SAT on our website.
- If you ship Lithium Batteries, Radioactive Materials or Explosives additional training is recommended.
